Energy use by business activities in offices is about 9% of the total UK building energy consumption, emitting around 6.8 million tonnes of CO2 per year. The Carbon Trust estimates that savings of up to 20% across the sector are possible totalling over £157 million each year. The biggest areas of energy saving potential are heating, lighting, air conditioning and office equipment.
